The ABB DSQC633C (3HAC043904-001) is a serial measurement board (SMB), also called a measurement unit, used with ABB IRC5 robots. The SMB reads the resolver/encoder feedback from the robot's axes and keeps the revolution-counter data that tells the controller the exact position of each joint.
If the SMB or its backup battery fails, the robot can lose its calibration position and require recalibration. A working measurement unit keeps axis feedback accurate and positioning repeatable.
